| $2,351 Double $2,251 Triple $2,760 Single Our 10th year returning to Tignes. The appeal of Tignes is simple: guaranteed good snow, spread over a wide area of varied terrain. Tignes and Val d'Isere together form the enormous Espace Killy - a Mecca for experts, and ideal for adventurous intermediates. Located high in the French Alps, the enchanting village of Tignes is nestled in a spectacular valley surrounded by towering mountains. Tignes is one of the highest ski resorts found in Europe. High above ground level, 11,319 feet high, the graceful Grande Motte Glacier plays host to slopes aficionados. Founded in the early 1920's, Tignes is a terrific resort for skiers, offering five bases including Le Lavachet, Le Lac, and Val Claret. These three come together to make up the main ski arena, running together in a wide, spacious valley high above the tree line area. Les Boisses and Les Brevieres lie further down the slop of the mountain. Val d'Isere is only a quck lift away. Tignes is a fantastic site for skiing, a vast region with nearly 200 miles of lift linked trails. The highest skiable vertical here is found at around 6,200 feet and the height of the lowest lift comes to about 4,100 feet in height. Most trails run up above the tree line, which of course affords incredible views as well as open, unimpeded skiing. Generally regarded as one of Europe and the world's best ski areas (as well as one of the biggest), the skiing offers something for everyone. The runs at Tignes are primarily geared towards intermediate cruisers, while the off piste terrain ranges from classic difficult couloirs to peaceful rolling snowfields. There is enough physical space that you could not cover even half the resort trails in a three-day stay. If you are into tricks and jumps, you could easily spend all day at the over one-and-a-half mile long snowpark. An efficient shuttle bus system allows you to end your day in any of the towns and make it quickly home. However, it is experts who will be the most impressed, if only because they don't find the limitations they do everywhere else. Instead there are endless off-piste options and plenty of hair-raising blacks on the marked trails themselves. We will be staying seven nights in the ski-in, ski-out three star Village Montana Hotel. A huge breakfast buffet will be served daily and in the evening gourmet French dinners. Relax in the heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi and saunas. Our last night will be in the wonderful French city of Lyon, staying at the Hotel Boscolo Grand, which includes breakfast. 6 day lift ticket is 218.70 euros extra. Insurance is $138, required 14 days after initial deposit for pre existing condtions coverage. $700 deposit due now to hold your reservation.
